Bringing Life to the “Suburban Living” Project: A Collaboration with Richardson & Associates Landscape Architects

It was a pleasure to team up with Richardson & Associates Landscape Architects to help breathe life into the “Suburban Living” project located in Reston, Virginia.  Our enthusiasm was fueled by the unique landscape and hardscape features of the project.

The bold front display of broad asymmetrical concrete pavers jump out as an eye-catching design technique.  The pavers provided the desired visual interest and functional stability for a secure step.  Additionally, the concrete pavers were accented by varied ornamental grasses culminating in the placement of a Japanese Thunderhead Black Pine at the entry.  The L&C Grounds Company devoted significant and measured time to ensure that the final plantings and product went well beyond industry standards by inspecting closely and sourcing the plantings from our valued nursery partners.

L&C constructed the wire basket Gabion Wall, set at the back of the residence.  The wall featured a broad palette of colors, vibrant blues, browns, grays and greens complementing the surrounding design. The wall installation resulted in a solid and stable structure, with straight lines and visual interest while also serving a practical landscape application. Additionally, L&C installed the gravel pathway with clean lines and a smooth, level surface fitting with the overall architectural style of the project.  The gravel pathway fit nicely with the flagstone surface of irregularly shaped pavers leading to the fire pit in the outdoor living space.

Our final task included L&C designed accent planters featuring Lilly of the Nile Agapanthus “Galaxy White”, lantana and other trailing greens to provide just the right amount of “pop” to the final project.
